Avon - The Company for Women - Corporate Responsibility

Recent Governance Initiatives

In 2007, we set clear goals to reinvigorate our existing programs, policies and procedures, and to

  • increase support for our suppliers to achieve compliance with our supply-chain standards;
  • review and refresh Avon policies and identify vulnerabilities and gaps in existing policies upon which we can improve; and
  • strengthen our program to assure compliance with local and national regulations regarding restrictive substances.

Also in 2007, we redefined our process for introducing non-beauty products produced by third-party manufacturers into the Avon supply chain. The new, more robust process entails a rigorous review of applicable safety standards. See the Product Responsibility section for more information.

In early 2008, we made two key changes pertaining specifically to our non-beauty product lines. First, we established global oversight of premarket approval and quality-control requirements for all non-beauty products. This move will help us to promote greater consistency and integration of our supply-chain management practices. Second, we introduced a new product testing and inspection protocol for all non-beauty items. The improved protocol features enhanced record keeping and greater utilization of external industry experts.
